Developing Healthy Social Emotional/Skills in Physical Education: A Coordinated Approach
Structure | Curriculum and Instruction Academy
Description | Physical Educators have always taught social/emotional skills like cooperation. Books with games and activities supporting these skills exist, but until now an articulated curriculum has never been developed that teaches emotional awareness and the “why” behind behavior. This activity session teaches Spokane Public Schools' “Fit For the Future” research-based Social Skills for Healthy Development. This activity-based instruction allows students to identify emotional states and take responsibility for behaviors by understanding basic emotions that everyone shares, allowing cooperative existence in a safe learning environment.
