Description | This session focuses on a unique strategy for teaching modern dance history through embodied creative movement-based activities. Adaptable to many age levels, abilities and educational contexts, this program is based upon five defining concepts of modern dance: Invention/Revolution, Experimentation and Process, Individuality, Cultural/Personal Identity, and Collaboration/Community, which offer a solid foundation for exploring the creative avenues that have defined and continue to shape modern dance. Come learn about this unique strategy, experience several sample activities, and obtain guidance in adapting them to your pedagogical context! For dance or PE teachers.
