Active Learning Strategies for the Biomechanics Classroom
StructureBiomechanics Academy
Description“What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand.” This concept by Confucius is over 2400 years old, yet many instructors still use the lecture format. An alternative approach to instruction in higher education is to focus on learning that is active and cooperative, and to use formative methods of assessment to improve the cycle of teaching and learning (Angelo & Cross, 1993). The purpose of this presentation is to provide the biomechanics professor with specific teaching methods and assessment tools to increase the student’s understanding and retention of content material.
