Promoting Mental Health: Strategies for Enhancing Self-esteem of Children and Adolescents |
Structure | School K-12 |
Description | While obesity is broadly recognized as a crisis among our young, mental health problems loom as the next emerging epidemic for children and adolescents. Educators, family and community members all know the importance of promoting self-esteem in the lives of children and adolescents. Translating this desire into action is often very challenging. This session will provide an overview of the mental health issues facing young people, the consequences that are resulting and the challenges that educators have in addressing these concerns. Specific hands-on activities and strategies will be provided in this interactive session. |
