Making Teacher Work Samples Work for You
StructureCouncil on Physical Education Teacher Education
DescriptionTeacher work samples are increasingly becoming the summative assessment item of choice in teacher education programs. Work samples are a comprehensive project allowing preservice teachers the opportunity to holistically design and analyze the teaching/learning environment. Additionally, they are the single assessment item with the potential to address the majority of NCATE assessment requirements. This session is designed to provide: an overview of work samples and component parts, actual examples of work samples, the progressional aspects of work sample development with students, a discussion of work sample highlights and pitfalls, and what we have learned from the work sample process.
