Description | In this session, scholars highlight pioneers in the areas of physical education, health, and fitness. The contributions of AAKPE leader, Helen Manley, to health education, including a focus on sex education and efforts to improve the health and fitness of underprivileged children in St. Louis, will be described. Four pioneers in Seventh-day Adventist physical education (Ingrid Johnson, William J. Napier, Robert M. Reynolds, and Eugene Winter) will be portrayed. Finally, Dr. Cooper's original research on aerobic conditioning and its relevance for promoting physical fitness today will be revisited. |
