Description | Although interest in Negro league baseball has steadily increased for the last thirty years, many teams, including the Baltimore Black Sox, have faded from memory and been ignored by history. In this session, the season of the Baltimore Black Sox, who won the 1929 American Negro League pennant, will be chronicled. The event will be used as a portal to a specific time and place and considers the politics of cultural memory. A tribute to the 17 Negro League players, executives, and owners inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame will be offered and the ballot selection process will be discussed. |
