RC Grant Findings: Women in Sport Psychology -- Writing Them Into Our History (Part 2)
Structure
DescriptionTo read the history of sport psychology one may presume women were absent from the field. Most introductory textbooks with a chapter on the history of sport psychology, do not mention a single woman. Krane and Whaley interviewed eight women with at least 25 years experience in sport psychology who significantly contributed to the development of field. They will discuss these pioneers’ rise to leadership, examine common themes across their experiences, and emphasize each woman’s unique legacy. The session explores in greater depth, the research that was introduced in Thursday’s session: “History Makers and Barrier Breakers in HPERD and Sport.”
