Almost any discussion involving sports topics today includes the use of acronyms, such as RBI, PPG, ERA, YPG. One acronym transcending all amateur sports is GPA. This should be the most important acronym to all educators and student athletes. Unfortunately, modern American culture is placing so much significance on athletic success that academic achievement is being ignored, overlooked, and left behind. This presentation examines the balance between athletics and academics in the current educational landscape. (CEU)
