Athletic injuries/illnesses are rarely predictable events. This unpredictability is the catalyst for designing and implementing emergency action plans (EAP) in venues promoting organized sports and physical activity. Without an EAP, organizations (ie., high school, youth, and adult sports leagues) are unable to develop strategies for preventing, recognizing, and managing emergent situations such as sudden cardiac arrest and exertional heat illnesses. This session will examine the risk management aspects of planning for an emergent situation. (CEU)
