The presentation addresses issues related to the prediction and interpretation of the criterion measure of aerobic capacity, maximal oxygen uptake expressed relative to body weight, in youths. The importance of BMI and other demographic variables for accurately predicting aerobic capacity from field tests, the perception that overweight youths are double penalized when BMI is used to predict aerobic capacity, and recent changes in FITNESSGRAM® test procedures to reduce challenges presented to teachers are discussed. This event is sponsored in part by: FITNESSGRAM®, the President’s Challenge and Dr. JoAnne Safrit
