Dance Symposia: Part 1. Scholarship in Dance. Part 2. Choreography as Research
Structure | Dance | |||||
Description | Part 1. This symposium presents two indicators of the existence of research in dance fostered by members of the NDA. One presentation examines 15 years of dance research presentations (1992-2006) in the Research Consortium of AAHPERD. The second paper provides a view of the NDA Scholar and Scholar/Artist lectures through the lenses of the scholarship of discovery, teaching, integration and application. Part 2. The process of choreography and dance reconstruction is complex, time consuming, artful, imaginative and rigorous. This symposium presents methodologies of rigorous choreography and dance reconstruction, as well as guidelines for evaluation. Discussion will follow both parts.
