Many coaches are recognized as community leaders; serving as positive role models and helping student-athletes achieve their potential. Too often neglected is their role as community builders. We will discuss how coaches achieve this role by nurturing life skills through sport that will help student-athletes contribute to community, developing community service opportunities to help youth understand their role in community, and communicating more effectively with stakeholders about the true value of sport within communities.
