In the process of becoming a coach, the novice coach typically mimics the coaching philosophy of the coach they played for (Gilbert, Lichtenwaldt, Gilbert, & Cote, 2009). However, this approach may not fit their personality or be a limitation, demonstrating one method in how to coach. Using six keys to a successful start in coaching, the purpose of this session is to assist participants in pursuing a career in coaching regardless of athletic playing experience. (CEU)
