Standards-based physical education requires a new approach to instruction that features a greater emphasis on student learning. This presentation will share on a 5-step model for standards-based lesson design that includes: unpacking a standard to reveal what students should know and do, aligning instruction and assessment with the standard, and embedding formative assessment into instruction. A standards-based lesson will be modeled so participants can experience first-hand what standards-based instruction truly looks like. (CEU)
